Press release from Insulin for Life USA

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – This November, superheroes won’t just be in movies, comics, and games – they’ll be in the crowd in Gainesville! Insulin for Life USA (IFL USA), a Gainesville-based nonprofit dedicated to providing life-saving diabetes supplies to those in need in the USA and across the world, has partnered with Infinity Con Gainesville 2025 to offer fans the ultimate team-up: attend a fun pop culture event and become a real-life hero in the process.

For every ticket purchased through IFL USA’s special link, 15% goes directly to the organization’s mission of delivering insulin, test strips, and continuous glucose monitors to people who desperately need them but do not have access.

“Comic cons celebrate fictional heroes. This is a chance to be a real one,” said IFL USA’s Executive Director Svetlana Hutfles. “By simply attending the event – something fans were planning to do anyway – you’re helping save lives.”

The partnership is part of IFL USA’s broader “Become a Real Life Hero” campaign, which aims to meet ambitious goals in 2025:

  • Collect 225,000 mL of insulin
  • Distribute 500,000 test strips and 9,000 sensors
  • Raise $250,000 in financial support

Since 2012, IFL USA has delivered over 260,000 pounds of critical diabetes supplies to more than 40,000 people across the world. In 2024 alone, it completed 186 shipments, including 76 within the U.S., distributing 18,000 pounds of insulin and supplies. That includes 22 million units of insulin, 384,000 test strips, and over 11,000 sensors – resources rescued from waste and turned into life-saving support. But the need remains immense and urgent.

Why It Matters

Many individuals with diabetes in the U.S. and abroad are forced to ration insulin or go without entirely, which puts their lives at risk. IFL USA intercepts surplus and unused insulin and supplies, then redistributes them where they are needed most, often in disaster zones or among underserved populations.

Infinity Con attendees will also be able to meet the IFL USA team, learn about the mission, and explore ways to make a long-term impact.
