Bell man killed in single-vehicle crash in Newberry

NEWBERRY, Fla. – A 70-year-old Bell man was killed this afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Newberry Road.

According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 5 p.m., the man was driving a pickup truck westbound on Newberry Road near SW 218th Street when the pickup truck traveled into the center grass median, then crossed the eastbound lanes of Newberry Road into a ditch on the south shoulder, where it hit a wooden fence in an open field. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to UF Health Shands and later pronounced deceased.
