A press release from Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) this afternoon stated, “It is with heavy heart that Sheriff Clovis Watson, Jr., announces that during a search today human remains were found in the area of NW Alachua County. Positive identification of these remains has not yet been made. Detectives and Forensics Investigators will work diligently with the Medical Examiner’s Office to make a positive identification and determine a cause and manner of death. More information will be forthcoming as is able to be released.”

ASO announced earlier today that they were searching for the body of 13-year-old Delia Young, whose guardian was recently arrested, implying in statements to detectives that the child was dead.

The press release about finding a body was posted on Twitter as a reply to the above post, indicating that ASO believes the body to be that of the child.
