Breast health education & mammogram screening event for uninsured women to be held in Micanopy on June 14

Press release from The Beautiful Gate Cancer Support & Resource Center

MICANOPY, Fla. – The Beautiful Gate Cancer Support & Resource Center will host a FREE* MASS© Breast Health Education & 3D Mobile Mammogram Screening Event in Micanopy for uninsured women on June 14, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at New Beginning Christian Worship Center on 355 NW 6th Ave.

Black women face significant challenges in breast cancer survival. The American Cancer Society’s data reveals that Black women have the lowest survival rates across all stages of diagnosis, largely due to unequal access to quality treatment. To address this critical issue, The Beautiful Gate Cancer Support & Resource Center is taking action by scheduling multiple MASS© Breast Health Education & 3D Mammography Screening Events throughout Florida.

“We believe every woman deserves access to life-saving breast cancer screenings,” emphasizes Pamela Burnett, a 24-year breast cancer survivor, author, and founder of The Beautiful Gate Cancer Support & Resource Center. “Our goal is to bridge the gap in healthcare disparities by bringing comprehensive breast cancer education and 3D breast cancer screening events directly to underserved communities.”

The June 14th event is a collaborative effort between The Beautiful Gate Inc., Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, UF Health Cancer Center, Florida Department of Health, and New Beginning Christian Worship Center. 3D Mammograms will take place on MammoLink’s 3D Mobile Mammography unit.

Uninsured women who register and attend will receive a gift card. Insured women are also encouraged to utilize their coverage at the event.

To determine eligibility for free mammograms, women are urged to register before the event via https://thebeautifulgateinc.com/screening-guidelines/.
