Celebrate the Child event to be held on July 21

Press release from Partnership for Strong Families

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – We invite all Alachua County families and children to join us on July 21st for a fun celebration of childhood! This free event will feature youth circus performers, carnival-style games, and complimentary treats. But this is much more than a fun event. Community agencies will be on hand to answer questions and provide resources for all things child- and family-related. The event has been held in Gainesville for over 20 years, with Partnership for Strong Families participating each year. This year we are again honored to join forces with Alachua County Child Abuse Prevention Task Force, the Gainesville Community Reinvestment Area, the Children’s Trust of Alachua County, and the Alachua County School Board to bring the event to a new location.

“We are so excited to bring this event back to our neighbors in East Gainesville after several years,” stated Pebbles Edelman, Chief of Family and Community Wellbeing. “We look forward to connecting families with community resources in a fun and welcoming community atmosphere.”

Celebrate the Child will be held on July 21st from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the MLK Jr. Multi-Purpose Center located at 1028 Northeast 14th Street, Gainesville, FL 32601. Over 40 local organizations will provide resources and activities such as balloon animals, ring toss, and more! Each organization will also share information and resources designed to empower Alachua County parents and caregivers. Developmental screenings will also be provided by Help Me Grow Alachua. Free snow cones and pizza will be provided for the first 500 attendees.
