City Commission to discuss GNVCares and adding protected classes to housing discrimination ordinance

The Gainesville City Commission will hold a Regular Virtual Meeting tomorrow at 5. The agenda includes approval of the guidance for the GNVCares programs and an item extending and amending the rules for virtual meetings.

An ordinance to add the following protected classes for housing discrimination will be presented for first reading: gender identity, citizenship status, lawful source of income, veteran status, or status as a victim of domestic violence, victim of dating violence, or victim of stalking. The ordinance also renames the City’s Equal Opportunity Office to the Office of Equity and Inclusion.
