Community Hospice & Palliative Care achieves We Honor Veterans Level 5, the highest recognition for veteran-centered hospice care
Press release from Community Hospice & Palliative Care
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Community Hospice & Palliative Care is proud to announce it has achieved We Honor Veterans (WHV) Level 5, the highest level of recognition awarded through the national program. This accomplishment reflects the organization’s deep commitment to delivering compassionate, specialized end-of-life care for the men and women who served our country.
This milestone comes just one year after Community Hospice & Palliative Care earned WHV Level 4, demonstrating continued growth, accountability, and excellence in veteran-centered care.
“We are honored to serve those who served,” said Phillip Ward, CEO of Community Hospice & Palliative Care. “Achieving level 5 is a meaningful achievement for our organization, and it represents our promise to ensure every veteran in our care is recognized, respected, and supported with comfort, dignity, and gratitude.”
We Honor Veterans is a national program that helps hospice providers strengthen how they identify, recognize, and support veterans and their families through education, community partnerships, and continuous improvement.
To earn Level 5 status, organizations must complete required activities within a defined timeframe and renew their standing annually, reflecting an ongoing commitment to quality and long-term excellence in veteran care.
Community Hospice & Palliative Care honors veterans in ways that go beyond clinical care, ensuring each patient’s service is acknowledged, and each family feels supported throughout the end-of-life journey. This includes identifying veterans served across the organization, creating meaningful recognition efforts that honor each veteran’s life and service, and strengthening staff and volunteer training to understand better the unique physical, emotional, and spiritual needs Veterans may experience.
Community Hospice & Palliative Care also partners with veteran organizations and community resources to expand support for veteran patients and families, helping connect them with additional services and honoring their legacy through every stage of care.
As a Level 5 WHV partner, Community Hospice & Palliative Care also contributes to the broader hospice community by sharing best practices and helping strengthen veteran care beyond its own organization, reinforcing the importance of honoring veterans with the specialized support they deserve.
