County: Call to Artists for Glass-Stained Art
Press release from Alachua County
The Alachua County Arts Council invites artists or artist teams to submit their proposals for a 15′ wide x 8′ high, agriculture themed, stained-glass art installation for the yet-to-be constructed UF/IFAS Extension – Alachua County Auditorium (formerly known as Canterbury), which will be located east of 23100 W. Newberry Road, Newberry.
The mission of the County public arts program is to enhance the quality of the visual environment in Alachua County, thereby adding to the quality of life and the level of citizen awareness of the importance of aesthetic experience in their everyday lives.
This art work will be a stained-glass agricultural mural, to represent agricultural crops grown in Alachua County. The 15 ft. x 8 ft. mural will be located in the front of the auditorium center building and is expected to be coordinated with the installation of all windows in the new building. The budget for this project is $33,000 and will be available October 1, 2020.
Submittals are due to Alachua County Procurement by Wednesday, March 25, 2020, no later than 2 p.m. via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Artists or artist teams are encouraged to apply.
