Crews contain 20-acre fire in northeast Alachua County

Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Crews from multiple agencies worked today to contain a fire off of North County Road 225 that spread to 20 acres and threatened several structures.
At about 3:14 p.m. on March 30, several units from Alachua County Fire Rescue, Lacrosse Fire Department, Windsor Fire Department, and three bulldozers from the Florida Department of Forestry responded to a smoke investigation in the northeast area of Alachua County.
An initial 2-acre brush fire spread with help from high winds and low humidity and ended up burning approximately 20 acres and threatening 6-8 structures. The Department of Forestry was able to contain the fire with a plowed line around the perimeter; no structures were lost, and there were no injuries. The scene was left with the Department of Forestry.
Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind citizens that we are still under a burn ban.
