Crews contain brush fire north of Alachua

ALACHUA, Fla. – A five-acre brush fire north of Alachua was contained in about three hours tonight.

At about 7:30 p.m., units from Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR), Lacrosse Fire Rescue, and the Department of Forestry responded to a report of a large brush fire near the intersection of CR 241 and CR 236. Upon arrival, crews found a fire that was very difficult to access and covered about five acres. 

With the assistance of three of the Department of Forestry’s bulldozers, the fire was contained in just under three hours. ACFR would like to remind citizens to use caution while burning outdoors, and if you do choose to burn outside, please visit the Florida Forest Service website to see the rules regarding outdoor burning: https://www.fdacs.gov/Forest-Wildfire/Wildland-Fire/Burn-Authorizations
