Crews extinguish Tesla battery fire at Alachua business

ALACHUA, Fla. – Firefighters extinguished a Tesla battery pack fire today at an Alachua business.
At about 1:25 p.m. on May 24, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a commercial building fire at Black Flag Metalsmith (13290 NW CR 325). Upon arrival, crews found a shipping container that was on fire and quickly contained the fire to prevent it from spreading to the surrounding area.
Further investigation revealed that a Tesla battery pack had caught fire, causing a fire that was difficult to extinguish, but crews were successful in mitigating the hazard. There were no injuries, and the fire is currently under investigation.
