Crews respond to fire outside High Springs
Press release from High Springs Fire Department
HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – At 1:15 a.m. on the morning of February 28, your High Springs Fire Department and Alachua County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a residential building fire in the 27500 block of NW 182nd Avenue, known locally as Poe Springs Road, in unincorporated Alachua County.
Due to limited access and poorly marked addresses, firefighters had a difficult time reaching the fire ground, requiring the use of three 4-wheel-drive brush trucks to shuttle personnel, supplies, and water to the scene.
Once on scene, crews found a single-story mobile home fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Alachua County Fire Marshal.
Your High Springs Fire Department reminds you to keep your driveway well-marked and accessible. Driveways are required to have a vertical clearance of at least 13 feet, 6 inches.
Please clear low-hanging and overgrown trees and limbs from your driveaway. Provide gate codes to Alachua County Sheriff Combined Communications Center at 352-955-1818, and be sure your house number is visible.
