DANB and Gainesville Youth Chorus present immersive ‘Ocean Voyage’ on Jan. 16

Press release from Dance Alive National Ballet

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Join us on Friday, January 16, at 7 p.m. for a spectacular concert that plunges into the deepest, wildest corners of the sea. Be surrounded by scenes from under the sea while you listen to professional instrumental musicians joined by Dance Alive National Ballet, a festival chorus, and the Gainesville Youth Chorus. Be transfixed by the beauty of Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, the hope of the Wellerman Sea Shanty, and the drama of music from movies like Jaws, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Little Mermaid.

DANB will perform a work created by Artistic Director Kim Tuttle featuring the men of DANB in “Pirates of the Caribbean,” while DANB Principal Rosemary Deiorio will perform “Dying Swan.” The Company will also perform Judy Skinner’s “Oceana” to music composed by Stella Sung, with video by Annie Crawley.

From playful waves to treacherous storms and hidden treasures, this performance is a musical voyage guaranteed to leave you breathless! The finale, unexpected!

Do come early to get a good seat and enjoy UF string bass professor Dr. Alexander Pershounin, who will improvise to the sounds of the sea beginning at 6:45 p.m.
