Dance Alive and Pofahl Studios present The Next Generation’s Spring Concert on April 19

Press release from Dance Alive National Ballet
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – One of the joys of Dance Alive National Ballet’s student group, The Next Generation’s SPRING CONCERT, is the way it touches each dancer and every audience member.
Join us for an amazing afternoon of dance – a window into the future!
Directed by Dance Alive Principals Rachel Ridley and Tales Ribeiro, The Next Generation (NG) is DANCE ALIVE NATIONAL BALLET’s Junior Company. The Company comprises 34 students, ages 8-18, whose goal is to become professional dancers, choreographers, or dance teachers. The students come from Alachua, Marion, and Columbia counties.
This year’s Spring Concert highlights the talents of the NG Company in a traditional classical work, “Don Quixote Suite.” The work features Leah Perine as ‘Kitri,’ Dance Alive soloist Stirling Kolb as ‘Basilio’’ and DANB Corp dancer Victor Mancuso as ‘Don Quixote.’
Following intermission, the audience will be treated to an entertaining mixture of ballet, contemporary, jazz, and tap with choreography by Co-Directors Ribeiro and Ridley, along with two works created for the students by Sissy Bell, a former Pofahl student, Next Gen member, and DANB performer. Ms. Bell has been featured on Broadway in Tootsie, Anastasia, and in numerous additional touring and regional productions of Chorus Line, Elf, etc. Ms. Bell created the work for and with these dancers during intensive workshops last summer.
As a special treat, guest artist Dance Alive Principal Rosemary Deiorio, who has recently been featured as ‘Juliet’ in “Romeo and Juliet” and ‘Swan Queen’ in “Swan Lake” touring through Florida, performs the iconic ‘Dying Swan.’
