GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dance Alive National Ballet, now in its 61st  year, is pleased to announce auditions for DANCE ALIVE NATIONAL BALLET, NUTCRACKER, & NEXT GENERATION.

WHAT: Auditions for DANB, Nutcracker, and the youth group, Next Generation 

WHEN: Saturday, August 15th, from 12:30-6:00 p.m.

COST: Audition fee of $25

DANB Artistic Director Kim Tuttle will be casting for selected roles in DANB’s 2026-2027 productions as well as NUTCRACKER. Directors of the student group, NEXT GENERATION, will select members for the 2026-2027 company.  DANB welcomes dancers from surrounding counties, studios, and gyms. Those auditioning should arrive 30 minutes before the audition in order to complete paperwork and receive their number. 

  • For girls: black leotard, pink tights, and appropriate shoes with hair up. 
  • For boys: white t-shirt, black tights, shorts or bicycle pants and appropriate shoes. 
  • For acrobats: appropriate clothing. 

AUDITION TIMES AND ROLES

  • 12:30-1:15 – ages 7-8       
  • 1:30-2:15 – ages 9-10        
  • 2:15-3:15  –  ages 11-13

Ballet experience required. Audition for Soldiers, Party Children, Franz’ friends, Mice, Next Generation.

  • 3:30-4:15 – ages 11-13. 2nd year pointe as of August 2026. Same age jazz dancers.
  • 4:30-5:15  -ages 12-17. 3rd year pointe as of August 2026. Same age jazz dancers. 

Ballet experience required.  

Pointe work for those roles on pointe.

Audition for Party Children, Franz’ friends, Clara’s friends, Young Adults, Mice, Angels, Snowflakes, Act II corps, DANB, & Next Generation. 

  • 5:30-6:00 – Audition for Tumblers age 7-18. 

Must be able to do back handsprings, splits, headstands, front and back walkovers, and aerial tricks.

NOTE:  Some dancers will be selected for Nutcracker tour, which includes Alachua and Ocala before returning to Gainesville.  Nutcracker will be performed with Ocala Symphony Orchestra in Gainesville and Ocala.
