Dance Alive presents a ballet process workshop – What Remains: A Story of Alzheimer’s

Press release from Dance Alive National Ballet

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Join company Principal Tales Ribeiro during the choreographic process of creating “What Remains: A Story of Alzheimer’s.”

What we love becomes eternal in our memory. But what happens when our memory is gone? Then who we used to be is also gone. But… not in all cases. This is one story in which a fragment of memory, a moment of love, a treasure in time, is still there.

Attendees at the first workshop were so moved that they reached out to The Village of Gainesville for sponsorship of the project and performance, which was quickly provided. The subject is one that hits home for many of us, and the first workshop initiated much conversation and discussion.

The workshop session on January 24 will be held at Pofahl Studios (1325 NW 2nd Street) from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by conversation and refreshments. Mr. Ribeiro invites you to participate in the process. The finished work will be premiered on February 8, 2025 at the Phillips Center.

If you have information or experiences you would like to share, please email info@dancealive.org with subject “The Ballet Process.
