Dance Alive presents Next Generation’s Choreographic Showcase on May 3

Press release from Dance Alive National Ballet

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dance Alive National Ballet’s Next Generation will present its 2026 Choreographic Showcase at 3 p.m. on May 3 at Pofahl Studios.

The Choreographic Showcase features works created by young choreographers: they audition, set, plan costumes, rehearse, and then present their work to an audience.

WHAT: Next Generation’s CHOREOGRAPHIC SHOWCASE

WHEN: May 3 at 3:00 p.m.

WHERE:  Pofahl Studios, 1325 NW 2nd Street, Gainesville, FL  32601

INFO: 352-371-2986

TICKETS: Donation of $5 suggested.  At the door.

First up will be “Bach Offering,” a new work by not-so-new choreographer Kim Tuttle for a senior group of NG members! Then Maggie Staples presents “Purple Rain.” Ms. Staples’ piece blends several dance forms AND various ages and abilities. A delightful work!

NG Co-Director Rachel Ridley will next take the audience through a demonstration of “the choreographic process” with selected dancers.

Iolanthe Cushman has a decided talent for the contemporary form, which is beautifully shown in her work, “Lost In Love,” while Jaylina Farberow goes to the wild side with “Vivo Tango.” Young dancers Lilla Hall and Kylie Nagle will perform “Hanging On.” Next up, another talented choreographer and graduating senior, Leah Perine, brings back a work she created with former NG dancer Lea Sanchez, “Wildflower.”

The program offers audience members the opportunity to explore with the dancers the how and why of what they created, talk to the performers following the performance, and share in their final performance with pizza and soft drinks!

This performance by Next Generation provides support for DANB’s educational programs.  Sponsored by Khoury Family Foundation, Diva Foundation, Pofahl Studios, and the Enwall Charitable Fund.

The Next Generation is exactly what it says it is: the next generation of dancers coached and cared for by Dance Alive National Ballet. It is a vital element in the Dance Alive organization.
