Destiny Community Church to host Back-to-School Community Closet on August 9

Press release from Destiny Community Church

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Destiny Community Church will be hosting its 4th annual Back-to-School Community Closet on Saturday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be free and open to the public and will feature donated gently-used clothing and other items at no cost, on a first-come, first-served basis –- while supplies last.

The event is sponsored by Honor|ed Inc., a local nonprofit with a “simple but powerful goal: to strengthen the bond between mothers and daughters during the critical middle school years through meaningful service and mentorship.”

Honor|ed founder Jennifer Moses said that the Community Closet is one of their most impactful events, “a place where families can find not just clothing and school supplies, but kindness, encouragement, and hope.”

According to Moses: “Everything will be given away. No questions asked. You get handed a bag and get to shop.”

Items available will include toiletries such as shampoo, soap, combs or brushes, razors, deodorant, toothbrushes/toothpaste, etc. School supplies and backpacks will also be given away, as well as new socks and underwear of all sizes.

UF Health will be onsite with its mobile cancer vehicle, and Palms Medical Group will be scheduling physicals. Free health screenings and vaccines will also be available.

Destiny Community Church is located at 20820 W. Newberry Road; the event will be held in the Student Center.
