Dr. Wendy Gunther joins the Gainesville Youth Chorus

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Youth Chorus (GYC), now in its 32nd year, is pleased to announce Dr. Wendy Gunther as lead instructor of the Young and Advanced Musicians Program.
Dr. Wendy Chen Gunther holds a PhD in Music Education from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, where she was a graduate teaching assistant, research fellow, and university student teaching supervisor. She holds degrees from the University of Miami (Master of Music) and Wheaton College, IL (Bachelor of Music Education). She was a recipient of the Frost School of Music’s Outstanding Graduate Student award in 2020 and the Presser Foundation Grant in 2022.
An experienced music educator with over twenty-five years of teaching experience, Wendy previously taught K-5 elementary general music in Aurora, Illinois. During that time, she earned National Board Certification and completed three levels of Orff-Schulwerk certification.
The Gainesville Youth Chorus is still accepting youth ages 7-18 for the 2025-2026 Season. More information is available at gainesvilleyouthchorus.com.
Established in 1994, the Gainesville Youth Chorus is a not-for-profit, regionally-based chorus for singers ages 7-18 that performs locally, regionally, and internationally. We strive to create an atmosphere in which children can develop and advance their musical talent, demonstrate personal and artistic growth, experience true joy and passion for singing through choral performances, and serve as cultural ambassadors for Gainesville, Florida, USA.
