Early voting for Primary Election ends on Saturday, August 17

Press release from Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Kim Barton

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The early voting period for the 2024 Primary Election will end on Saturday, August 17, at 6 p.m. Until then, all registered voters in Alachua County will be able to vote early at any of the county’s eight early voting locations between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Florida is a closed primary election state, meaning that only voters registered with a political party can vote for that party’s candidates in partisan races. The deadline to update party affiliation for this election was July 22.

However, there is something on the ballot for everyone.

All registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote on nonpartisan races.

Additionally, until August 17 at 6 p.m., voters will be able to deliver their completed vote-by-mail ballot to any of the Secure Ballot Intake Stations located at each early voting site. The Secure Ballot Intake Stations will be available during early voting hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and will be continuously monitored by trained secure ballot intake station attendants.

Voters can still hand-deliver their vote-by-mail ballot on Sunday, August 18 and on Monday, August 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to the Secure Ballot Intake Station located only at the Supervisor of Elections Office. On Election Day (August 20), the Secure Ballot Intake Station will be available only at the Supervisor of Elections Office from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
