Press release from Florida Virtual School

ORLANDO, Fla. — Enrollment for Florida Virtual Full Time Public Schools (FLVS Full Time), the state’s only fully virtual public school district, is now open for the 2025-26 school year. Available to Florida students in grades Kindergarten through 12, families can apply through July 18. Early applications are strongly encouraged due to the limited enrollment window. The first day of school for students in the full-time option is August 18.

Florida has always been at the forefront of school choice policies, and Florida Virtual School is a prime example of the state’s longstanding commitment to school choice, with more than 200,000 students choosing FLVS annually. The online school district’s rigorous digital courses, flexible learning model, and certified teachers create an environment where students can thrive academically.

Notably, FLVS Full Time students ranked among the best in the state on the Florida Assessments of Student Thinking (FAST) progress monitoring and End-of-Course (EOC) assessments. Their exceptional performance placed FLVS in the top 10 non-lab school districts statewide across all core subject areas, including English Language Arts (ELA), U.S. History, Biology 1, Algebra 1, and Civics.

“We believe that every student deserves access to high-quality, flexible education that meets their unique needs,” said Dr. Louis Algaze, president and CEO of Florida Virtual School. “As school choice continues to expand across Florida, we’re proud to offer families a trusted, fully accredited online learning option that empowers students to thrive academically and personally – wherever they are.”

Florida Virtual Full Time Public School courses are taught by state-certified teachers using a curriculum developed specifically for the online learning environment to facilitate student success.

Students take six courses per semester and earn their diploma upon meeting the graduation requirements. Students have access to more than 200 courses, including core (regular and honors), electives, world languages, and Career and Technical Education.

High school students can also take Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment classes, or pursue a Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) diploma. Just this year, 15 students graduated from high school with their associate’s degree.

Beyond academics, FLVS Full Time provides families with a robust support system, including academic assistance, student services, and resources for families. Students may also participate in in-person field trips, regional meet-ups, and more than 80 online clubs and activities, fostering a vibrant and connected school community.

In addition to the full-time option, FLVS also offers FLVS Flex for families interested in supplementing their learning or homeschool education. Registration for individual courses is available year-round.
