Families invited to Family Farm & Field Day and Exceptional Child Education Agency Fair

Press release from Alachua County Public Schools

Family Farm and Field Day: Local families will enjoy a wide variety of fun activities and learn more about Alachua County Public Schools’ farm-to-school-to-work program and school gardens at this year’s Family Farm and Field Day. Children and parents can play Food Systems Bingo, have their photo taken at the Sunflower Photo Booth, make snacks together, tour the Farm to School to Work Hub, and participate in other activities. They’ll be able to meet the farmers and students who grow food for school meals and learn about the GET (Growing Educational Training) program, in which Exceptional Education students help grow produce and learn job skills.

Farm and Field Day is free and open to the public and is hosted by ACPS’ Food and Nutrition Services Department.

The event will be outdoors on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Horizon Center, 2802 NE 8th Avenue.

Agencies that serve children will also have representatives on hand to help families learn more about available services, particularly about options for transition and life once your student has completed school.
