FedEx truck involved in fatal accident

A FedEx truck was involved in a fatal crash at 3:20 p.m. today near Archer. Andre Whitaker, 24, of Ocala, was driving a 2012 GMC FedEx van south on CR 241 and pulled onto US 27 southbound without coming to a full stop.

Kenneth Holder, 58, of Bronson, was traveling south on US 27 in a 2005 Mack truck and took evasive action by veering to the right, but the FedEx van struck his truck. After the collision, Holder’s truck traveled off the roadway onto the west grass shoulder, where the tank trailer broke loose from the tractor and turned over on its left side. Holder was wearing a seatbelt but did not survive. Whitaker suffered minor injuries.
