Driver arrested in I-75 hit-and-run fatality

Press release from Florida Highway Patrol

About 5:05 p.m. on February 22, witnesses saw a black 2001 Ford F-350 pickup swerving onto the grass shoulder of southbound I-75, just south of the 399 exit in Alachua.

A white male with short dark hair was driving, and the passenger door was open, with a white female hanging out of it.  The woman was dragged for several hundred feet while holding onto the door.  She then fell from the pickup and was subsequently run over by the right rear tire.  The pickup fled the scene southbound on I-75 and was last seen exiting at the 390 mile marker (39th Avenue) exit in an unknown direction.

The woman, identified as 48-year-old Eileen Bocca, was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

Approximately 9 hours later, the Florida Highway Patrol, with the assistance of the Sheriff’s offices of Alachua, Marion, and Columbia Counties, arrested 44-year-old Ryan Le Boss, the victim’s boyfriend, at his residence in Columbia County.
