Fire crews contain fire to shed and greenhouses

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Early this morning, fire crews contained a fire to a shed and greenhouses, keeping it from spreading into brush and a nearby home.

At about 1:05 a.m. on November 15, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue responded to a reported fire in the 2500 block of SE 35th Street. Crews found a shed and greenhouses that were fully involved in flames and worked quickly to contain the fire within 13 minutes of arrival.

No injuries were reported, but the shed and greenhouses were a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. ACFR reminds everyone to exercise caution when using portable heaters.
