Florida agriculture producers asked to share impacts of winter freezes

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – UF/IFAS is asking agricultural producers affected by recent freeze events, including the recent Winter Storm Gianna, to complete a survey on agricultural losses and damages.

Florida has experienced several low-temperature and freeze events between late December 2025 and early February 2026. Agricultural producers who experienced crop, livestock, or infrastructure losses or damages associated with any (or multiple) of these freeze events are encouraged to participate.

The survey is part of on-going UF/IFAS research tracking the effects of severe weather and other hazards on the state’s agricultural industry. Participants are asked to assess their production losses and asset damages due to recent freeze events. If the agricultural operation has been impacted by multiple freeze events, you will be able to indicate this. 

Researchers are looking for information about the cumulative impacts of all freeze events that have impacted operations between late December 2025 through early February 2026. Responses will be used to improve estimates of the state’s collective agricultural losses from such events and inform decision-making related to disaster declaration, response, and relief.

While the results are informative for decision-makers, they are not formally used for disaster designations or individual disaster assistance eligibility, so producers should still report loses and damages to the USDA Farm Service Agency.

Survey participation should take between 10 and 20 minutes. Answers are confidential.
