Buildings across the country lit up blue on Thursday evening

Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and the Stephen C. O’Connell Center on the University of Florida campus lit up blue Thursday evening. The two facilities joined other iconic athletic venues and structures across the country to participate in the ‘Light It Blue’ tribute to thank those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The two Florida athletic buildings were two of several hundred venues nationwide that lit up blue at 8 p.m. ET. The Ben Hill Griffin Stadium video board, along with the video board inside the O’Connell Center, were the elements that shined blue Thursday night.

Other notable athletic facilities that joined the tribute were: The College Football Hall of Fame, Lambeau Field. NRG Stadium, CitiBank Field, Madison Square Garden, Met Life Stadium, Barclays Center, Prudential Center, US Bank Stadium, Target Field, Xcel Energy Center, Target Center, Levi’s Stadium, State Farm Stadium, Staples Center, T-Mobile Arena, AACenter, Cotton Bowl Stadium and Madison Square Garden.
