Florida Virtual School recognized as 2025 ‘Best Places to Work’ by Orlando Business Journal, second year

ORLANDO, Fla. — In recognition of its outstanding employee satisfaction, the Orlando Business Journal (OBJ) has named Florida Virtual School (FLVS) to its 2025 list of “Best Places to Work” in Central Florida.
This is the second year FLVS has been recognized for its strong culture, flexible work options, comprehensive benefits, and dedication to student success. In 2024, FLVS was selected as the 2024 first-place winner in the giant category, for companies with more than 500 Central Florida employees. The 2025 rankings will be published in late August.
As the state’s only 100% virtual school district, FLVS cultivates a dynamic culture rooted in collaboration, innovation, and commitment, driving success in a virtual setting. The annual OBJ program recognizes the region’s companies that rate highest for employee satisfaction. Thousands of FLVS team members in Central Florida were surveyed by an independent third-party, Quantum Workplace, on 30 scored items across six categories: communications and resources, manager effectiveness, team dynamics, individual needs, personal engagement, and trust in leadership.
FLVS is a fully accredited public school district and has been a leader in online education for more than 27 years. The organization employs 3,500 teachers and professionals, who serve more than 230,000 students across Florida. These students are among the nearly 1.8 million students (51% of all K-12 students in the state) who chose to attend a private, charter, home school, or magnet program instead of their neighborhood public school during the 2023-24 school year, according to data from Step Up for Students, the nonprofit that administers Florida’s scholarships for educational choice.
“FLVS provides me with unmatched flexibility and support, which is why I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else,” said 2026 FLVS Teacher of the Year Karla Cheas. “I’m given the resources I need to individually help my students, while still having work-life balance due to the FLVS people-first culture.”
In addition to the OBJ award, FLVS has also been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best-In-State Employers for Florida in 2023 and 2024.
