Florida’s largest kids’ consignment event returns with family fun & community safety focus
Press release from Just Between Friends of Gainesville
ALACHUA, Fla. – Just Between Friends (JBF) of Gainesville, Florida’s largest children’s consignment event, returns to Legacy Park this April with a dual mission: to help families save money while keeping them safe. On Saturday, April 26, the event will feature the beloved Safe KIDS’ Day from 10 a.m.–1 p.m., including a sensory-friendly hour from 9 a.m.–10 a.m.
This free community event brings together over 30 health and safety organizations including law enforcement, firefighters, CPR professionals, pediatric specialists, and more. Attendees can explore emergency vehicles, receive health screenings, and connect with resources—all while enjoying interactive games, giveaways, and character fun.
Special highlights this year include:
- A live appearance by Albert and Alberta, mascots from the University of Florida
- A helicopter landing by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Department
- Onsite fire trucks, police vehicles, and ambulance displays
- Vision, dental, and health screenings
- Family-friendly fun: face painting, balloon twisting, and more
But this weekend isn’t just about fun—it’s about families coming together to support one another.
The JBF consignment sale, running April 23–27 (see hours and ticket requirements below), offers thousands of new and gently used items for babies, kids, and teens—from toys and books to strollers and clothing—at up to 90% off retail. Over 900 local families contribute their items, and every sale supports sustainability and savings.
Why It Matters More Than Ever:
With rising prices on essentials and increased tariffs on imported goods—including children’s clothing and toys—many families are turning to consignment events like JBF to make ends meet. This model not only helps parents stretch their dollar but also gives them a chance to earn income by reselling their children’s outgrown items.
“Our sale is a lifeline for many,” says Karen Miner, franchise owner and event organizer. “With inflation and new tariffs driving up retail costs, families are actively seeking alternative ways to provide for their children without sacrificing quality or safety. JBF gives them that.”
