Gainesville Black Professionals to close operations with Impact Gala

Press release from Gainesville Black Professionals

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Black Professionals (GBP), the largest network of Black professionals in North Central Florida, is set to host its final events as the organization prepares to end operations.

Founded by Virginia Grant, GBP has been at the forefront of promoting diversity, inclusivity, and equity by showcasing the talents, expertise, and contributions of Black professionals in the region.

Since its inception, Gainesville Black Professionals has made a lasting impact through its signature initiatives including the Movers & Shakers Mixers, the Annual Black Professionals Expo, and SYNERGY Magazine, the only publication in North Central Florida dedicated to honoring the achievements and contributions of Black professionals.

Through these platforms, GBP has played an instrumental role in fostering a thriving, connected community, promoting career advancement, and advocating for systemic equity and inclusion.

The organization’s closure will culminate with a special Impact Weekend on January 24 & 25, 2025, where the community will come together to celebrate GBP’s legacy, reflect on the organization’s years of service, and discuss the future of Black professionals in the region.

The Impact Weekend will feature:

  • Movers & Shakers Mixer: Reflecting on the connections made throughout the years and fostering future collaborations.
  • Impact Gala: Celebrating GBP’s impact and those who made GBP a success.

While Gainesville Black Professionals may be ending, its impact will continue to resonate throughout North Central Florida. The organization’s work has laid a strong foundation for continued advocacy, mentorship, and growth, and future initiatives will build upon this legacy.
