Gainesville Community Band to hold Veterans Day concert on Nov. 10

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Join us in honoring Veterans Day and celebrating the life of James B. King. A Charleston, South Carolina native, James attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia before enlisting in the Army, where he performed on troop ships crossing the Atlantic during World War II. In 1946, he joined the Marine Band, serving as principal clarinetist and assistant conductor until his retirement in 1968. James and his wife Joy were devoted members of the GCB for 26 years.
The concert will be held at 4 p.m. on November 10 at First Presbyterian Church, 300 SW 2nd Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601. Admission is a $5 donation taken at the door.
