Gainesville man arrested for threatening to hit woman’s car with his car
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Trezahn Gerell Ellis, 25, was arrested yesterday on warrants for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to appear at a hearing on a previous case.
On April 5, Ellis was reportedly arguing with a friend who was also his former girlfriend and allegedly dragged her out of the residence; she had some personal belongings inside, so she banged on the window, and he allegedly threw her belongings outside and came out holding a chair leg. The victim grabbed as many of her belongings as she could and drove away in her car. She called a friend to help her get the rest of her belongings.
The victim returned to the residence, and her friend parked behind her. The victim saw Ellis in his car and went to get her glasses from the porch, but he allegedly drove toward her with his car. She ran back to her car, and he allegedly drove toward her car. She quickly put her car into reverse and was able to avoid being hit by Ellis’ car, but she crashed into her friend’s car.
A warrant for Ellis’ arrest was issued on June 20 with a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and another warrant was issued on June 27 after he failed to appear at a hearing on a previous charge of failing to return a rented vehicle.
Ellis has juvenile criminal convictions, one felony conviction, and one misdemeanor conviction. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $75,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
Why is he still here, the probation system maybe?
At least Miller-Jones finally set bail on someone and didn’t ROR a violent person
Didn’t ROR him but the charges will probably be dropped.
Bring back the chain gangs!!
Did the victim get a citation for crashing into her friend’s car? Wonder if the friend will file a lawsuit for damages and emotional distress?
That’s a moving violation and if memory serves me correctly, a minimum $140 fine. 3 points on her license unless she attends and completes the defensive driving course and has adjudication withheld.
