Gainesville man charged with sexual assault on a minor in connection with human trafficking case

Devonte Tyshawn Foster, 24, has been charged with sexual assault on a victim between 12 and 18 years of age in connection with a human trafficking investigation.

The juvenile victim was held at an apartment in the Holly Heights/Cedar Ridge area from December 11, 2020, to December 14, 2020, when she was recovered by Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies. While she was held, she was allegedly given illegal narcotics and repeatedly raped. The report states that a DNA sample from the victim positively matched Foster, and she reportedly identified him from a double-blind photo lineup.

Foster is currently serving a nine-month sentence as a result of plea deal for drug possession, resisting arrest, and violation of probation on a previous case. He qualified for work release and was confined to the Work Release facility when he was not at his job.

Post Miranda, Foster reportedly was able to describe the victim; he said he went over to a specific apartment, where there were several men. He said the other men had all “hit it” by the time he got there, and he “knew this to mean that they were having sexual intercourse with the victim.”

Foster then reportedly told the detective that he took the victim to a nearby parking lot in his car, where she performed oral sex on him and then they had sex in the back of his car.

Foster has been charged with sexual assault on a victim under the age of 18 and is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
