Gainesville man killed in single-vehicle accident on CR 225

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – A 59-year-old Gainesville man was killed late last night when his SUV ran off the road on CR 225, hit a tree, and caught fire.
According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, at about 11:30 p.m. on April 19, the man was driving northbound on County Road 225 when the vehicle veered off the left side of the road for unknown reasons, entering the grassy shoulder. The SUV hit a tree and became fully engulfed in flames. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
