Gainesville man killed in US 301 crash

According to a release from Florida Highway Patrol, an 82-year-old Gainesville man was killed in a crash at noon today on US 301 at CR 1474.

The man was driving east on CR 1474 in a sedan and stopped at the intersection of US 301 and CR 1474 before pulling out into the path of a tractor trailer driven by a 50-year-old Gainesville man, traveling south on US 301. The front of the semi struck left side of the sedan, and the sedan’s driver was pronounced deceased on scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue.
