Gainesville Modern Weekend 2026 to include three events over March 20-22

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville Modern invites you to celebrate the ninth year of our signature event, the Annual Mid-Century Modern Home Tour. Presented by Atlantic Design Homes, Gainesville Modern Weekend 2026 will include three events, opening with the Drinks and Dwellings VIP Cocktail Party on March 20, then join us at the Annual Mid-Century Modern Home Tour on March 21. The weekend will end with our MOD Talks lectures series on Sunday, March 22. 

Kick off the weekend in style at “Tiki: Mai Tais & Mod Times,” the Drinks and Dwellings VIP Cocktail Party on Friday, March 20, from 6 to 9 p.m. Built in 1967, the beautiful home of Scott Wilson and Warren Brown in Pine Hill Estates has a spectacular pool, complete with a cabana for entertaining. Enjoy an exciting night of food provided by Zen Catering, full bar and specialty cocktails by the award-winning mixologist Kristin Amron, live music, photo booth, and a chance to bid on an original MCM painting by artist Alfred Phillips. The Annual Mid-Century Modern Home Tour offers an exciting day showcasing some of the coolest and most iconic homes in Gainesville. Sponsored by Arista Realty, the self-guided tour will be on Saturday, March 21, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The tour features six homes in Mallory Gardens, Clear Lake, Lowlands, Masonwood, Westmorland Estates, and University Acres neighborhoods. The architects include Jack Moore, Lester May, Dan Branch, Harold Rose, Jill Lebowitz et al, Arthur Forrest Camp, and Alfred Browning Parker. The self-guided tour will have on-site docents and informational posters about the homes and architects. We’ll wrap up the weekend with the MOD Talks lecture series, held for the first time at the beautiful University of Florida Emerson Alumni Hall. The lecture will be on Sunday, March 22, 2 to 3 p.m., with doors opening at 1:30. Dr. Wayne Wood will present “The Remarkable Mid-Century Architecture of Northeast Florida and Its Links to Gainesville.” One of the foremost chroniclers of Northeast Florida’s history and architecture, Dr. Wood has been called “the undisputed godfather of preservation in Jacksonville.” An author, historian, artist, and educator, Wayne is founder of Riverside Avondale Preservation, one of the largest neighborhood preservation organizations in the Southeast.
