Gatorhead 2025 returns to Newnan’s Lake on October 25

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The annual Gatorhead Regatta returns to Newnan’s Lake on Saturday, October 25, 2025, hosted by Gainesville Area Rowing (GAR). This head-style race draws crews from across the Southeast — from middle school to masters — to compete along the lake’s scenic 5K course under ideal fall conditions. Many teams competing, including Gainesville Area Rowing, competed in USRowing Nationals this past June.

Event Details

  • Date: Saturday, October 25, 2025 | 8 AM–5 PM
  • Location: Newnan’s Lake, Gainesville, FL
  • Registration: Available now on RegattaCentral
  • Participants: Middle school, high school, collegiate, & masters crews
  • Amenities: Food Truck by Bagel Bakery, Swag Tent, & Paid Parking ($10 cash only which helps to fund the Gainesville Area Rowing program)

Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the races, local food, and Gainesville’s natural beauty along the lake — home to both Gainesville Area Rowing and the University of Florida rowing teams.

Why It Matters
A fall tradition since 1996, Gator Head highlights Gainesville’s growing reputation as a rowing destination while boosting local tourism and community spirit. The event supports youth and adult rowing development and celebrates teamwork, fitness, and friendly competition.
