June 2, 2021
Press release from Gainesville Fire Rescue
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) U.S. Fire Administration’s (USFA) National Fire Academy (NFA) announced on April 3, 2021, that Joseph Shawn Hillhouse successfully completed the Executive Fire Office Program (EFOP).
There are four required courses, and each requires a written Applied Research Project (ARP) to demonstrate an application of course theory and concepts to real-life situations within the participant’s organization. Progression through the program is contingent on the successful completion of each project.
The Mayor, Commissioners, neighbors, and all Community Builders will join Fire Chief and EFOP alumni, Joe Dixon, on June 3rd to recognize Chief Hillhouse’s accomplishment. The proclamation is currently listed as the initial item following the dinner break (4:30 to 5:30 p.m.) of the City Commission meeting.
Chief Dixon said, “I am excited for Chief Hillhouse and for what this adds to our organization.”
