GFR extinguishes residential fire on NE 14th Street

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At approximately 9:05 p.m. on Friday evening, firefighters responded to a house fire in the area of 1500 NE 14th Street. Firefighters arrived on scene in just over four minutes and immediately began extinguishing the fire and searching for victims. The 24 firefighters who responded had the fire extinguished within 25 minutes of arrival. Firefighting efforts were complicated because a significant volume of fire existed in attic voids created by duct work and a roof over. The home suffered extensive damage.   

No civilian or firefighter injuries resulted from this fire. Unfortunately, six neighbors and four dogs have been displaced.  The fire is under investigation.
