GFR sends 8 Urban Search & Rescue specialists to Surfside

Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) has deployed eight Urban Search & Rescue specialists as part of FLTF-8 to continue rescue efforts at the collapsed condo building in Surfside, Florida. FLTF-8 is comprised of Gainesville Fire Rescue, Marion County Fire Rescue, and Ocala Fire Rescue. The USAR Specialists will arrive this afternoon and begin work rotations. The recovery efforts are set in 12-hour shift rotations, and FLTF-8 will be on site for the next 7 days. As FLTF-8 begins it’s work, GFR’s thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the community of Surfside, Miami-Dade County, and our first responders.
