GHA and UF Saving Smiles partner to host free “Dental Clinic Days”

Press release from Gainesville Housing Authority
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville Housing Authority (GHA) and the University of Florida’s Saving Smiles initiative, sponsored by the Children’s Trust of Alachua County, have partnered to provide free, essential dental care to residents through “Dental Clinic Days.” The clinic will run from Tuesday, June 9, through Friday, June 12, 2026, at Eastwood Meadows (925 SE 43rd Street).
To overcome the financial and transportation barriers that often lead to preventable oral health complications, UF College of Dentistry’s student-led, faculty-supervised volunteers will bring portable dental units directly to the community.
Participating residents will receive comprehensive preventative services, including:
- Routine dental screenings, exams, and professional cleanings
- Fluoride treatments and preventative sealants
- One-on-one oral hygiene education, care kits, and referrals for advanced treatments
“Good oral health is intrinsically linked to overall physical health, yet it is too often treated as a luxury. By partnering with UF Saving Smiles, we are proactively removing the barriers that keep our residents from receiving the care they deserve,” said Pam Davis, Chief Executive Officer of GHA.
