GHS Concert Choir joins Festival Singers of Florida on Oct. 11

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gainesville High School Concert Choir is pleased to join with the Festival Singers of Florida for a concert entitled “Another Glorious Day.” This free concert is at First Presbyterian Church (300 SW 2nd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32601) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 11th.
Under the direction of Rebecca Ruescher, M.M., the Gainesville High School Concert Choir brings together the finest singers in grades 9 – 12 at Gainesville High School. Singers regularly participate in community performances throughout Gainesville, with the Alachua County Honor Choir and All State Choruses, and Disney’s Candlelight Processional. Most recently, the GHS Concert Choir took home straight superiors at Florida’s State Concert MPA.
The GHS Concert Choir looks forward to collaborating with the Festival Singers of Florida (FSOF). Providing community performances of the highest quality, FSOF, conducted by Dr. Fenton, is dedicated to engaging and inspiring through impassioned singing and expanding the appreciation of the choral arts. Past performance tours have included Kenya, China, Indonesia, Mexico, and Japan.
Featuring over 100 singers, the Festival Singers of Florida includes many music educators, making this collaboration even more special. The concert will include a variety of music, as well as a premiere by composer Kara Stacy Bedwell. Kara is an emerging composer based in Central Florida who was a winner of the American Choral Directors Association Raymond Brock Memorial Student Composer’s Competition. She prides herself in writing melodies and setting texts which are accessible and engaging for young performers.
