Today, Governor Ron DeSantis visited UF Health The Villages Hospital to highlight COVID-19 vaccinations for frontline health care workers. In addition to UF Health employees, a small group of community members aged 65 and older were given the vaccine as a preview of the state’s next step in the vaccination process.
Governor DeSantis announced that the state of Florida is working to set up community vaccination sites for individuals 65 years of age and older. Florida will prioritize the vaccinations of elderly residents over essential workers, as the elderly are at a much higher risk of serious complications from COVID-19.
