Press release from Gainesville Police Department
On July 19, 2020, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers responded to reports of subjects fighting in the roadway at 626 NW 4th Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, officers determined that three black males and one white female had just committed a home invasion robbery on the Hispanic residents at the location.
With the assistance of a GPD officer translating, a GPD detective was able to view a video from a cell phone of one of the victims. This video showed a portion of the robbery as it occurred and allowed the detective to quickly identify the white female as Leila Ann Johnson (DOB: 10/27/94). One of the black male suspects was identified as Jessie Littles (DOB: 11/23/89). Both Leila Johnson and Jessie Littles were located and arrested within a short period of time and have been booked at the Alachua County Jail.
This investigation is on-going and more arrests are expected.
