GPD Coronavirus (COVID-19) Precautionary Measures

We would like to thank the community for their cooperation and patience during these uncertain times. The safety of the citizens of Gainesville and GPD employees are top priority. Therefore, the Gainesville Police Department has enacted several precautionary measures.

Access to the Station: Public access to the police department is restricted and limited to the front lobby. Only persons in police custody will be escorted within the Gainesville Police Department building. All building tours and ride along(s) are suspended.

Office of the Chief: Suspension of all non-essential in-person meetings. All inquiries shall be conducted via phone or email.

Public Information Office and Office of Legal Services: Suspension of all non-essential in-person meetings. Questions shall be answered via phone or email.

Personnel Division: The April police officer testing process has been suspended. All inquiries shall be conducted via phone or email.

Fiscal Division: Suspension of all non-essential in-person meetings. All inquiries conducted via phone or email. Information Technology Division: Suspension of all in-person meetings. All inquiries conducted via phone or email.

Patrol Support Bureau: Officers and Police Service Technicians are adhering to the guidelines provided by CDC. Suspension of all special response team trainings.

Patrol Operations Bureau: Normal operations-Officers and Tele-Serve Operators are adhering to the guidelines provided by CDC.

Investigations Bureau: Normal operations, however GPD Detectives may ask witnesses and victims to meet at off-site locations to conduct interviews. Alachua County Victim Advocates including those assigned to GPD will not be available for face-to-face consultations; they will assist via phone only.
