GPD investigating shots fired at Cabana Beach Apartments

On Friday, May 29th, at 12:22 a.m., GPD Officers responded to Cabana Beach Apartments to reports of gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, multiple shell casings, bullet holes, and a handgun were located in the hallway of building 16.
Further investigation revealed that three masked gunmen forced their way into one of the apartments, and a struggle ensued. A shot was fired during the struggle, alerting one of the residents inside the apartment. This resident armed himself with a handgun and began shooting at the three masked gunmen.
The gunman returned fire but fled the area. Multiple items of contraband were located inside the apartment, and the handgun found in the hallway had previously been reported stolen to the Gainesville Police Department.
