GPD investigating Williston Rd hit and run

On December 10, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers responded to a hit and run crash at 500 SE Williston Road.
After arriving to the scene, GPD officers discovered a victim that was hit by an unknown vehicle in the crosswalk. The victim, a 35-year old female, was traveling east on the Hawthorne Trial, jogging with a friend who was on a bicycle. When the victim started into the crosswalk and went into the median lane, a dark colored SUV (make unknown) struck her. The SUV slowed for a moment and then picked up speed and fled south on SE Williston Road. The victim was transported to Shands, where she remains in critical condition.
GPD reminds motorists that if you are involved in an accident, you have a duty to stop. It is a criminal offense if you flee the scene of an accident, whether personal injury or property damage occurred.
