GPD makes another arrest in school bomb threats

Press release from Gainesville Police Department

Gainesville Police Department (GPD) detectives arrested another Gainesville High School student, Kaniyah Hudson (DOB: 02/11/07), for making a false bomb threat on Friday, October 1, and Monday, October 4, 2021. Hudson is being charged with 1 felony count of making a false report concerning planting a bomb, an explosive, or a weapon of mass destruction.

This arrest follows the arrest GPD made last Friday, October 1, 2021, of Kashiya White (DOB: 09/21/06), for making a false bomb threat on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.

Hudson is currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center pending a detention hearing.

If anyone has additional information about these or other false bomb threats made recently in our local schools, please contact GPD Detective McCazio at 352-393-7611. You can also make anonymous reports/tips to Crime Stoppers at 352-372-7867 or www.stopcrime.tv

GPD and other local law enforcement agencies implore our neighbors to help stop these false bomb threats, as they continue to interrupt the education of our children; cause unnecessary stress to children, teachers, parents, and school workers; and tie up valuable resources that could otherwise be responding to other calls for service.
