GPD makes arrest in attempted homicide

On Monday, May 17, 2021, at approximately 9:51 p.m., Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers were dispatched to the North Florida Regional Medical Center Emergency Room (4388 NW 53rd Avenue), in reference to a patient with a gunshot wound.

After arriving to NFRMC, GPD officers made contact with the patient/victim, who was being treated for a single gunshot wound to his left thigh. The victim advised GPD officers that he was shot in the Pine Ridge Apartments complex by an unknown suspect. Subsequent investigation led GPD officers to the identification of a suspect, J’imari Taylor (DOB: 01/17/94).

GPD officers then located the suspect at his residence and after conversations with his roommate and mother, he was taken into custody. Taylor was then transported to GPD and subsequently arrested for Attempted Felony Murder and Use/Display/Carry of a Concealed Firearm During a Felony.
