GPD officers responding to a domestic disturbance fire on suspect after being fired on

Earlier today, Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers responded to a domestic disturbance call for service. After arriving to the scene, the suspect fled, and GPD officers pursued him across town. The suspect ultimately arrived to a home in the Cedar Grove neighborhood where he barricaded himself inside. When the armed suspect exited the home at approximately 5:00 p.m., he fired at GPD officers, who then returned fire. The suspect was hit and wounded and was later transported to a local hospital.

GPD continues to secure the scene. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will conduct an investigation into this incident.
